Maryborough services to transition to Hervey Bay

St Stephen’s Hospital Maryborough has experienced ongoing viability issues for a number of years. This is due to declining patient volumes, relating to many complex issues including the limitations of types and complexity of medical and surgical care that can be provided in Maryborough.

At St Stephen's Hospitals we embrace 'Personal Care, Professional Approach', embodying compassion, care, integrity and accountability within every aspect of care.

St Stephen's Hospitals Maryborough and Hervey Bay are 'not-for-profit' organisations owned by the Uniting Church. We are a member of the UnitingCare Health group of hospitals including The Wesley Hospitals in Brisbane and Townsville, St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, Brisbane and The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital, Buderim.

As a 'not-for-profit' facility, we are committed to re-investing surplus funds into development of our hospitals, services and staff. This benefits the community by creating a hospital that utilises leading edge technology.

Our Hervey Bay facility is a day only surgical and oncology centre. This is the first stage of a planned expansion of health care services to the Fraser Coast community.

The master planned site (opposite Hervey Bay Public Hospital) has been designed to accomodate an additional two (2) operating theatres and 60 overnight beds to meet the growing demand for private hospital facilities in Hervey Bay.
